Figuring out what to share on your Instagram story can be daunting, but it doesn’t have to be. Before we get into what you should be sharing, we must understand the why behind it.
What is an Instagram story?
The content you post to your feed will stay there unless you decide to delete it. Your Instagram story, on the other hand, is only visible to users for 24 hours.
How should I be using it?
Your story is a great tool that will help you connect with your audience and potential clients. It’s an excellent place for them to get to know you and feel comfortable working with you before reaching out.
How do I use stories to connect with my audience?
While your regular posts may be information-filled, real estate-related or client-focused, your Instagram stories should be much less polished. This is where you will share the behind-the-scenes of your day-to-day and allow people to get to know the face of your business.
What should I post?
1. Your plan for your day
Sharing your to-do list is a great way to offer insight into the behind-the-scenes of your business. Not only are you helping your followers and potential clients get to know you better, but you’re also encouraging them to engage with you so you can learn more about them.
In our example, we used the poll sticker to ask our audience to vote what their day looked like.
2. Your pets and kids
Who doesn’t love a cute picture of a kitten all snuggled up in bed? Many of your followers likely have pets or children, so there’s a good chance they’ll connect when you share your images. Only share pictures of your family on your Instagram story if that is something you’re comfortable doing.
In our example, we asked our audience to vote using the quiz sticker. It’s a cute and light-hearted way to interact with your followers while letting them get to know you.
3. Your Face
Above all, this is what your audience will connect with most. The more your followers see your face and hear your voice, the more they will feel like they know you. By doing this, your followers will feel more confident and comfortable approaching you to discuss working together. We understand that this can feel a little scary initially, but we promise it’s worth it!
In our example, we used a selfie image and the location sticker to show our followers what we’re doing today.
