The Calgary Real Estate Board (CREB) Charitable Foundation has awarded $180,000 in grant funding through its Investing in HOPE program to local non-profits selected by real estate professionals.
The charitable foundation typically awards 15 grants through the program, but its board of governors unanimously agreed to inject an extra $30,000 this year, so 18 organizations will each receive a $10,000 grant.
“We had the capacity to give more this year, so that’s what we did,” says foundation co-ordinator Aneve MacKay-Lyons. “The impact of every grant is exponential, so there’s a profound ripple effect that translates into a much wider outcome for the people who need it most.”
The additional funding was applied evenly across the foundation’s three areas of focus – enhancement, shelter and care – and will assist with a specific operational or capital need.
