Exit Realty on the Rock has had its licence suspended by Newfoundland and Labrador’s Superintendent of Real Estate Agents and Salespersons.
A Service NL news release says that because the matter still under investigation, no additional information is being released about the licence suspension, which took effect Feb. 4 at 11:59 pm.
ServiceNL encourages industry professionals with licensing questions to contact them at 709-729-2595.
It is also directing people who are engaged in real estate transactions involving Exit Realty on the Rock to contact their lawyer or the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Realtors by phone at 1-855-726-5110 or by email at bstirling@nlar.ca (Note: This is the email address of Bill Stirling, CEO of the NL Association of Realtors.)
In a news release, Stirling says he expects that “most (or all) salespeople with this particular brokerage will transfer to another brokerage today.” Recognizing that there are salespeople with pending sales and commissions at risk, Stirling added that the association is trying to “find a definitive answer to that question.”
Exit Realty on the Rock is owned and operated by Anne Squires with offices in Glovertown and St. John’s. It has 66 Realtors listed on realtor.ca.
REM was unable to reach Squires but Susan Harrison, senior VP of corporate communications at Exit confirmed that the investigation involves only one Exit brokerage and that “Exit Realty cannot comment on the situation until the investigation is complete.”
A spokesperson for the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary told REM he “can confirm that a complaint was received mid-week” but because the investigation is in the early stages, he is “not prepared to say whether or not it is criminal in nature.”
“No other information will be released at this time,” he said.
