Marcus Ortner, who has sold more than 700 homes in his 16 years in the industry, recently joined cloud-based eXp Realty.
The company says the Abbotsford-based Ortner helped create and co-owned a boutique brokerage, growing it to 30 agents over the course of eight years. But the company says a “lack of scalability with the previous model” had him looking for a better option.
“Turning to a cloud-based brokerage seemed like the natural next step and gave me the flexibility to do business my way,” says Ortner. He says he has improved his ability to connect with more agents in a positive manner, offering his leadership, skills development and business coaching to help them exceed their dreams.
“When I first met my accountant, around 11 years ago, I was creating a 10-year plan – so I had already been in the business for a few years and was working on how to retire, if I wanted to, by the age of 40,” he says. “Paying a mentor to be in my corner and to hold me accountable (and for me to hold him accountable for his own plans) was key in sticking to a solid financial and life plan. It’s what I owe a lot of my success to.”
