Century 21 Canada founder accepts Canadian Franchise Association Hall of Fame Award

Family owned and operated Charlwood Pacific Group (CPG), master franchise holder of the Century 21 brand in Canada and the Asia-Pacific regions, Centum Financial Group, Real Property Management in Canada, and Uniglobe Travel International, has been awarded the Canadian Franchise Association’s (CFA) Hall of Fame Award for its innovative business practices that have driven franchisee success.

Founder U. Gary Charlwood was presented with the award on behalf of the group at the CFA National Convention in Ottawa.

“We treat our franchisees and their teams like family. That’s why it’s in our DNA to do everything we can to support the success of their businesses from providing the latest tools and technology, to personally answering their call when they need advice,” says Charlwood. “I’m incredibly honoured to receive this award on behalf of my sons Chris and Martin, all of our staff and members whose personal determination has led to our collective success.”

The award is presented in recognition of outstanding performance by a franchise company over a significant period of time. Winners typically have high brand recognition (on either a regional or national scope) and will be generally recognized for their solid business performance. They exhibit leadership in the franchise community in many ways including helping to encourage excellence through sharing best practices, speaking engagements, being willing to mentor new franchisors and raising the profile of the franchise business model. Past award recipients include Tim Hortons and Shoppers Drug Mart.

Charlwood was the first non-U.S. citizen to be appointed chairman of board for the International Franchise Association (IFA) and was also the first Canadian to be inducted into the IFA Hall of Fame – its highest honour.
