Gail Power, Janet Armour and Ryan Power from Sutton Group Masters Realty in Kingston, Ont. recently participated in Spin4Kids, a fundraiser for youth sports and fitness. They were part of an eight-person team that rode (or “spun”) for eight hours at a GoodLife fitness centre.
With personal donations and contributions from friends, coworkers and clients, they raised $1,829 for the GoodLife Kids Foundation. Their team’s contribution helped to bring the Kingston total to $23,500 and the nationwide total to approximately $1 million.
“We love kids, we love spin and this program allowed us to raise funds to help get kids fit,” says Ryan Power, who served as team captain. “I liked the fact that it was an enjoyable team event that draws attention to the issue of getting our kids active.”
The Power Team members are already planning to do the event again next year.
Funds raised through Spin4Kids supports national, provincial and local programs that provide physical activity opportunities for children as well as grants for in-school fitness activities and after-school sports. GoodLife Fitness covers 100 per cent of the administrative and operational expenses.
