Volunteers from the Kitchener-Waterloo Association of Realtors (KWAR) took a break from their Team Build Day at the Kehl Street development site in Kitchener, Ont. recently to take part in a cheque presentation of just over $20,500 to Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region.
The funds were raised through KWAR’s 22nd Annual Charity Golf Tournament.
Established in 1988, Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region (HFHWR) is a non-profit housing organization working to break the cycle of poverty by building simple, decent and affordable homes for hard-working, low-income families.
“For over 25 years HFHWR has helped more than 100 local families become homeowners,” says Mark Wolle, president of KWAR. “Realtors see firsthand the importance of homeownership every day when we’re working on behalf of our clients. But for some in our community this dream is just a little further out of reach, and these are the homebuyers that Habitat for Humanity serves.”
The KWAR Board of Directors recently reaffirmed its commitment to improving quality of life and providing housing opportunities, by entering into a partnership with HFWHR to sponsor a home build.
