Michael Church, Avison Young principal and managing director of the firm’s Ottawa office, has hired commercial real estate industry professionals Lindsay Hockey and Oliver Kershaw.
Hockey and Kershaw become principals of the firm with a mandate to grow its brand in the greater National Capital Region and, in particular, the Kanata technology sector, the company says. Based in the firm’s Ottawa office, they will concentrate on their core specialties of office tenant representation and agency leasing.
Hockey brings 15 years of commercial real estate experience to Avison Young while Kershaw has worked in the industry for 10 years. Prior to joining Avison Young, both worked as associate vice presidents with CBRE.
Prior to joining CBRE in 2011, Hockey was an associate vice-president with Colliers International from 2002 to 2011. Throughout his career, he has focused on office tenant representation and agency leasing, the company says. In addition to serving private corporate clients, he has expanded his volunteer and not-for-profit client base with an increasing focus on the technology sector in Kanata.
Kershaw commenced his commercial real estate career with CBRE in 2006. During his career, he has built an extensive track record as a tenant representation specialist, while also assisting landlords, with a focus on the local technology and innovation industries, the company says.
Will Roantree also joins Avison Young as an associate and will work with Hockey and Kershaw before entering law school in fall 2016. Roantree also comes to Avison Young from CBRE in Ottawa, where he was an associate.
