The Mississauga Real Estate Board (MREB) held its 68th Annual General and Election meeting in November, where nine candidates vied for five positions on the board.
The newly elected directors are Manuel Choi, Helen Goljak, Tehreem Kamal, Sandra Longden, and Asha Singh, who will serve a two-year term beginning January 1, 2023.
In addition to the new directors, the MREB board of directors for next year will include Michael Kennelly as president, Rita Asadorian as president-elect, Nelson Goulart as immediate past president, Asha Singh as vice president, as well as directors Ahmed Helmi and Gurinder Sandhu.
MREB CEO Ray Dubash says the board has decided to decrease the number of directors from 12 to 10 members, following amendments to the organization’s by-laws that were ratified by MREB membership at the 2021 AGM.
“Although it has been bittersweet to say goodbye to some very dedicated and hard-working directors, we know that this new governance format will work best for our members and the board in the future,” Dubash said in a press release. “We look forward to working closely with all the directors with enthusiasm and confidence as we continue to grow and prosper.”
Michael Kennelly added, “As the 2023 President, I look forward to leading the board’s next chapter of growth and prosperity. I am both honoured and excited to be able to continue the board’s 68-year legacy and build upon it.
The MREB board of directors is responsible for managing the organization’s activities and affairs and representing the interests of the organization’s membership, which currently consists of more than 2,700 professional realtors in the province of Ontario.

Membership increases in size, number of directors decreases – just like TRREB. Is this centralization? Fewer minds to convince?
Perchance did they introduce the idea of Outside Directors?
