Real estate professionals in Ontario will soon have access to more data and services with the amalgamation of two regional real estate boards.

The Durham Region Association of Realtors (DRAR) and the Quinte & District Association of Realtors (QDAR) have announced a proposal for the amalgamation of their boards, which would result in the formation of the Ontario Lakes Association of Realtors (OLAR).

According to a news release, the proposed amalgamation would bring together more than 2,000 members of the two boards, creating a larger regional board that will expand its reach and provide more resources to its members. The amalgamated board will have access to a single MLS.

The integration will maintain the existing regional office and dedicated local employees of both boards.

DRAR President Meredith Kennedy expressed her belief that the proposed integration is the right step forward for their members, expanding their data, reach and resources.

QDAR President Natasha Huizinga highlighted the benefits of the merger for QDAR members, noting that it would provide better data and services at a lower cost.

The Northumberland Hills Association of Realtors (NHAR) has also unanimously endorsed a motion to integrate with OLAR once the amalgamation is complete. NHAR members will vote on this proposed integration at their special membership meeting on May 5th.
