Realtors rally to raise money for wildfire relief

As dangerous wildfires continue to wreak havoc, causing displacement and devastation across the Northwest Territories and British Columbia, the realtor community is coming together to show compassion and support for those in need.

CREA’s Realtors Care program has launched a fundraising campaign in support of two new Canadian Red Cross appeals.

The fires that have engulfed the Northwest Territories are leaving a trail of destruction in their wake and have forced thousands from their homes. In response, CREA has initiated a call to action, rallying realtors and their supporters to contribute to the Canadian Red Cross emergency relief efforts in the N.W.T.

To date, close to $4,000 has been raised for the Northwest Territories Fires Appeal.

British Columbia fires

Fires in British Columbia are forcing families to evacuate and communities to confront the harrowing aftermath. With an outpouring of generosity, the real estate community has amassed nearly $34,000 in support of the Canadian Red Cross emergency relief efforts in B.C., including a $20,000 donation from BCREA.

The funds collected for the N.W.T. and B.C. fire appeals are being channelled into immediate relief efforts, as well as the ongoing process of recovery and resilience-building. Additionally, the Canadian Red Cross says these donations will aid in future preparedness and risk reduction strategies for any unforeseen disaster events within the province.
