Whitby, Ont. sales reps Chantail Guest and Kelly Lumsden of Sutton Group – Heritage Realty are sponsoring a free car seat clinic on Saturday, June 4 at 3455 Garrard Rd. from 11 am to 4 pm. It’s the third year in a row they have sponsored the event, along with Kiddie Proofers’ owner Sandie Massie. There will also be a raffle with a top prize of a Diono Radian RXT car seat, with all proceeds benefiting the Gillie Beans FUNd.
This charitable fund was established by a local family who lost their daughter Gillian to a rare form of childhood cancer.
At last year’s clinic, more than 50 car seats were installed for free and they raised a few hundred dollars for the fund.
“So many moms have questions about car seat rules, expiration dates and installation,” says Lumsden. “Chantail and I went to the police station to have our car seats checked only to find out they no longer offer that service. Only St. John’s Ambulance and certified car seat technicians now offer the service. It normally costs about $40 per seat to check the installation and we heard great things about Kiddie Proofers (Durham) from several parents.”
