Sporting capes and masks, superheroes from Sutton – Showplace Realty in Chilliwack, B.C. recently participated in the Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowl for Kids Sake. They conquered every “Krazy Bowl” challenge that was thrown at them from bowling backwards to lobbing the ball between a teammate’s legs. With two teams from the office participating, they raised $1,000, which will help to fund mentoring programs for children and youth.
“This is a fundraiser we often participate in because we get to have fun for a great cause,” says Jillian Fraser, office administrator at the brokerage. “The theme this year was ‘superhero’ and as soon as I heard that I knew we needed to make capes and masks. I thought it would look cool to wear matching costumes. Another office administrator helped to sew the capes then I transferred on the Sutton logo. We made felt masks and off we went!”
Representing the office were sales reps and staff members Crystal DeJager, Brad McGimp, Chris Kloot, Jake Siemens, Tibor Bogdan, Cameron Gemmell, Kim Parley, Laura Lindstrom, Jillian Fraser, Kathy Werner and Amber Siemens. Each made a personal contribution to the $1,000 total donation.
Bowl for Kids Sake is so popular that it takes place at multiple venues over multiple nights to accommodate as many players as possible. This is an event that Fraser highly recommends to other businesses looking for teambuilding with a charitable component. She notes that the evening included pizza, a photo booth and lots of opportunities to get silly with colleagues.
