Three eastern Ontario RE associations successfully amalgamate

The Durham Region Association of Realtors (DRAR), Quinte & District Association of Realtors (QDAR), and Northumberland Hills Association of Realtors (NHAR) have officially completed their amalgamation as of Jul. 1st.

The three organizations have joined to create a unified regional board that will represent real estate professionals throughout the region and share resources and access to MLS data.

Expanded geographic reach and market area

The consolidation extends the geographic reach of the boards. The enlarged market area now encompasses Durham Region, Hastings County, and Northumberland County.

DRAR President Meredith Kennedy expressed her pride in the collaborative efforts of the boards, team members, and the support received from their members. Kennedy acknowledged that “this idea started many years ago, out of the common goal to increase access to data for members, and I am proud to see this come to fruition.”

DRAR CEO Wendy Giroux acknowledged the support of their members and highlighted the collaborative efforts between the board of directors and teams.

Giroux adds, “I would like to thank the Ontario Real Estate Association for their support as well as the Toronto Regional Real Estate Board, Proptex Innovations, and the Canadian Real Estate Association for their assistance with the technology and logistics to ensure a smooth transition.”

The new regional board will have over 2,000 members and, once approved by OREA, will be known as the Ontario Lakes Association of Realtors (OLAR)
