I read with interest the last issue about real estate agents getting together to lobby to have MLS info delayed to the public. My first thought was, how would this sit with the Competition Bureau? Secondly, what would our clients think? We accepted a duty to act for them to sell their property quickly and at the best price. Third, what would the provincial regulators do if that customer complained about our actions?
With regard to charging prospects for using mls.ca — we are the most used site, yes, but if we start charging, the consumer will go to the brokerages’ sites that are free, and mls.ca may die a slow death. I feel we have a great site and we should maintain it, free to the consumer.
