Your May article on mandatory continuing education rightly pointed out the advantages of online courses. I was disappointed to see, however, that the Ontario Real Estate Association was not mentioned as a major provider of such courses.

OREA was a pioneer in the provision of online education, offering its Phase One course online as early as 1998. With the advent of mandatory continuing education in Ontario, we have been developing more and more MCE courses for the online format. Today, we offer five online, continuing education courses through our website at www.orea.com.

OREA’s online offerings complement the 63 classroom courses we offer our members through their real estate boards. Last year alone, we delivered our MCE courses to more than 25,000 members.

As your author stated, mandatory continuing education is here to stay, in part because it increases the professionalism of Realtors. And online is a convenient way for Realtors to get the MCE credits they need.
