Realtors representing Sotheby’s International Realty Canada on Vancouver Island and Salt Spring Island have recently established the Community Engagement Committee (CEC) to raise money for charitable causes in their local communities.
“At an individual level, our agents and brokers have always generously supported our local communities through individual and team fundraising and volunteer initiatives,” said Don St. Germain, CEC chair.
“The power of this committee lies in bringing together giving at an Island-wide level, with a designated Community Engagement Committee at the helm.”
Comprised of 45 agent members, the committee aims to raise funds and awareness for the Youth Empowerment Society (YES) with a focus on shelter for teens 15 to 19-year-olds across Vancouver Island.
“There is strength in the collective,” says Christine Ryan, managing broker, Vancouver Island. “And we can achieve more together than separately.”
Since its inception in late 2022, the committee has already raised more than $4,000 for the Women’s Transition House Society at the brokerage’s annual holiday party.
