Buyer agency and mls.ca

With respect to giving the public access to mls.ca web site, I also have concerns with buyer agency. When the public log onto the site, they tend to call the listing agent as indicated on the web page. The public may not be aware how the commission split works on a transaction. By leaving the listing agent’s name off mls.ca, then those working only as buyer agents will have an equal opportunity to make the sale.

Charging the public an access fee for logging onto the mls.ca website would help defer costs as well as create revenue, and may not have a negative impact on those looking for the information. There may be different levels of accessibility, depending on what someone pays for.
