I am just reading my February edition of REM, and an article really caught my attention: the one about mandatory fire sprinklers.

Water damage is the biggest nightmare a homeowner can have.  Anyone owning a rental property will tell you that they cringe when a tenant calls and says that they have leaking plumbing or have found mould!

Installing sprinklers is cause for future water problems.  I hope this is being seriously considered.

I respect that there are bodies out there that want to save every soul possible and fire is a horrible death/injury, but do the numbers really justify imposing legislation and costs on homeowners?  Statistics show that society is already much more mindful about fire protection with hard-wired smoke alarms and the fact that insurance companies have greatly forced this issue with electrical requirements and wood fire heating requirements.

It’s the older homes that are more susceptible to fires and not new construction. 

I hope that a small group’s ideas are not going to be imposed on the rest of us, with no one standing up to oppose the issue.
