Ever since I read the article Bureau sees 'no major restrictions' in the February REM, I have been formulating my letter to Ann Bosley, president of CREA, and I emailed her a few minutes ago with my views.  If you read that article carefully, you will detect the “demise of Realtors” wish by the Competition Bureau bureaucrats. Which seems inevitable if their recommendations were ever fully implemented.
 
Then along comes Heino Molls (The Publisher’s Page), spewing out “integrity, integrity, integrity” – a man after my own beliefs of this profession, however diametrically opposite to the Competition Bureau drivel.
 
CREA implemented the new Realtor Code of Ethics on July 1, 2006, followed by review and study by the current president of BCREA, with new changes implemented. Also, during the past 10 to 15 years, new legislation/rules and regulations/processes, and forms, forms and more forms, have been integrated into our daily business, all with the protection of the consumer in mind. Don’t tell me that the Competition Bureau understands anything about the Realtor’s daily challenges in this business.
 
If our associations at all levels, and ALL Realtors do not fight these misdirected bureaucrats, our hopes of ever having a true “profession” or any organization at all will be dashed forever. Our level of professional service to buyers and sellers will be watered down to a non-existent level, and a free-for-all of “non-mandatory pre-licensing course” people will run loose in Canada.
 
What a scenario.
 
Always enjoy your editorials, and those of your writers/contributors. You provide a significant avenue for many to express their views. Keep it up and I will keep reading for another 20 years. I need to get my 50 years in before I retire.
