Hats off to Brian Hirtle for his critique of the Competition Bureau and their collective badgering of our industry (Letters to the Editor, November). Why doesn’t the Competition Bureau get off their butts and do something about the gas prices in this country?  When you see every gas station on every corner in the city, be it Esso, PetroCanada, Shell or others, charging the same prices everywhere, if that isn’t a violation under the Competition Act, then nothing else can be.
When is our government bureaucracy going to smarten up to the petroleum industry’s collusive fleecing of the Canadian public? Enough is enough. When is the Canadian public going to smarten up and tell their elected Members of Parliament to get with the program or else start looking for another job?
