A Vaughan real estate agent has been charged by the York Regional Police in connection with a sexual assault investigation.
Farzad Farhoodinejad, 44, was charged Feb. 16 with sexual assault and committing an indecent act.
Farhoodinejad’s registration is listed as active with the brokerage Bay Street Group Inc., according to the Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO)’s registrant search.
Police allege the incident began Feb. 9, when a woman contacted a real estate agent through a social media sales platform about a rental listing. The following day, the agent arranged to meet the victim at her home to discuss the listing after she was unable to attend the property in person.
While inside the residence, the suspect allegedly sexually assaulted the woman and committed an indecent act before leaving. The victim was not physically injured, police said.
Investigators are releasing a photo of the accused as they believe there may be additional victims.
York Regional Police #4 District Criminal Investigations Bureau is appealing for other victims to come forward.
