While attending a local home show, Jay Lough Hayes of Peterborough Realty displayed a sign and pail asking for donations for a Food For Kids program. More than 41,000 pennies were rolled for a donation of $419 to the program.

Peterborough Realty then held a Facebook contest, giving away a $100 charitable donation receipt to the person who guessed the closest to the number of rolled pennies.

“May 4 was the last day that Canada made pennies, so let’s collect them for a worthy cause,” says Lough Hayes.
