For the past 11 years, research and consulting firm T3 Sixty has analyzed and ranked North America’s residential real estate brokerage’s 200 most influential and powerful leaders.
Several Canadian leaders made its 2023 Swanepoel Power 200 (SP 200) list, as they have in previous years.
How the Canadian industry fared
These nine Canadian executives made this year’s cut:
#13 – Phil Soper, president and CEO, Royal LePage
#31 – Gavin Swartzman, CEO, Peerage Realty Partners
#48 – Christopher Alexander, president, Re/Max Canada
#58 – Martin Charlwood, president and CEO, Century 21 Canada
#66 – John DiMichele, CEO, Toronto Real Estate Board
#121 – Tim Hudak, CEO, Ontario Real Estate Association
#146 – Carolyn Cheng, chief operating officer, Royal LePage
#157 – Morgan Carey, founder and CEO, Real Estate Webmasters
#178 – John Lusink, president, Right at Home Realty
How candidates are ranked
The esteemed assessment requires in-depth research, analysis and debate, including 500 hours between 10 T3 executives.
Rankings are determined using eight criteria based on each candidate’s industry influence and power. Factors affecting this can include:
- How much capital they can access or leverage independently
- Their position and ownership stake in the companies they lead
- Their company’s size, production and importance
While there’s inevitably some subjectivity, the company’s website states, “The SP 200 attempts to provide an accurate reflection of the leadership of the industry as is; it includes no sponsorships, pay-to-play, discrimination or preferential treatment.”
