Mother-daughter duo Sandy Bodnar and Rayissa Palmer, sales reps with Sutton Group Old Mill Realty in Toronto, give back to their communities.

Most recently, they volunteered as road marshalls at Le Tour de Terra Cotta, a community-driven cycling race that attracts nearly 700 Canadian and international participants in Caledon, Ont.

Next up for the pair is dressing up as Santa’s helpers to go door-to-door to collect non-perishable goods and donations for the Mimico Food Bank.

“We believe strongly in giving back, particularly in those communities where we and our clients live,” says Rayissa Palmer.

They are also involved in the Ron White Shoe Drive each January. The women collect new, gently used shoes and donate them to Canadian shoe designer Ron White. He refurbishes them for people who cannot afford suitable office attire.

They also fund a kids’ craft table and offer face painting at the Mimico Residents Association Valentine’s Day and Halloween dances. Each June, they sponsor a massive bouncy castle for the End of Year School Fair at St. Leo’s in Mimico.
