Jerry Aulenbach, a realtor with Royal LePage Noralta Real Estate in Edmonton, Alta., has found a creative way to support the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation—through cooking classes.
Dubbed ‘Cooking for a Cause,’ the five interactive cooking classes were held in different cities across Canada and led by local professional chefs.
Attendees at the events were separated into groups and worked on one portion of the meal, which was then shared at a communal table of old and new friends. The events were an opportunity to learn new cooking skills, enjoy delicious meals, and support the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation.
In total, more than $2,000 was raised, which will fund programs that help teach teens how to build healthy relationships and avoid violence in their lives.
Aulenbach has a long history of supporting the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation—he’s raised tens of thousands of dollars through various initiatives.
Emerging from the pandemic, Aulenbach wanted to find a way to rebuild connections while living by his personal motto to “never eat alone.” He plans to host more ‘Cooking for a Cause’ events in 2023, with cities expected to include Red Deer, Calgary, Edmonton, and Winnipeg.
