Lynne Walker, an associate with Sutton Group – Canwest in Calgary, planned to take part in a rugged 20-km hike to benefit the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society of Canada. Since its inception in 1948, the society has $140 million into researching the mysterious disease. The investment has led to significant results such as advances in imaging, diagnosis, genetics, tissue repair, rehabilitation and disease-modifying therapies.

An estimated 100,000 Canadians are living with MS, including a few of Lynne’s friends and one relative.  “I’ve witnessed their sad deterioration and loss of mobility and wanted to do something to help,” she says.

The MS Hike 2016 was a challenging climb through the Upper Galatea Lakes in Kananaskis Country or along the scenic Terrace Trails, depending on permit approval for the MS Society. Walker and other participants planned to camp at Mount Kidd RV Park the night before and the night after the hike.
