Pictured: Keller Williams’ “turkey task force” goes searching for turkeys
It’s never too early to plan for the holiday season, especially if your goal is to feed 2,500 families.
The Keller Williams Energy Real Estate Brokerage, based in Whitby, Ont., has been planning its 15th annual turkey drive since January. A “turkey task force” works within the brokerage, preparing for the year-end event. They’re responsible for calling those on the recipients’ lists, ordering food, arranging coordinated deliveries, and inviting volunteers for the day it all comes together.
Each bag contains a turkey, all the fixings, and a recipe guide for recipients to follow. Carea Community Health Centres provide space to pack the bags. Distribution is done in partnership with Carea, the John Howard Society, local food banks, and the Salvation Army.
Last year, more than 2,200 bags were handed out. This year, the brokerage aims to distribute 2,500 dinners for four, to feed 10,000 people in the community.
Keller Williams is always looking for help fundraising. Anyone looking to contribute is welcome to contact the brokerage.
